“We cannot change people, we cannot change our circumstances and we cannot even change or modify the storms we are facing. All these things do not belong to us. All that we have is our perception. Thats what truly belongs to us and that perhaps is the only thing we have the power to change.” Nisha was recalling Ms. Manya’s words in her mind. She knew that most of her fears were imaginary and far away from truth but still a part of her mind chose to believe in them. Not believing in fear is a very hard job especially due to the fact that our minds have been trained over all these years to do what fear says. Fear can be an eye opener at times but when it starts becoming overpowering and emotionally disturbing, thats when we need to stop believing what it says.
“If only someone could teach me how to stop believing in my fears,”thought Nisha,” All these fear based thoughts are so frustrating.”
“I dont understand why people open so many bank accounts when they cant even handle one,” thought Diya as she was having a really hard time in dealing with one of the customers.
“Please wait a minute Mam,” she said typing the password on the keyboard,” let me check the list again.”
“Thats all right,” said the customer looking for something in her handbag,” but please be a little quick. I have an appointment with my dentist in another forty minutes.”
“If you are hearing only one voice, you will believe all that it says,”said Ms. Manya as she sat comfortably serving Nisha her self made herbal tea.
“I thank you for such a warm welcome,” said Nisha,” your house looks adorable.”
“Thank you my dear,” said Ms. Manya,” I always love good company. Now coming to the core of our discussion, there are so many voices in our head. The only voice we can hear is the voice of fear that is loud and clear. When we are able to successfully dissolve it with our true inner divine voice, we hear it no more. Then, we are finally free.”
“I see,” said Nisha sipping her tea,”but how do we do that? That seems totally impossible.”
“No, my dear. Its way simpler than you think. The voice of love is very often suppressed by the bitter experiences of this mortal world. I hear it through my cards but we all can hear it easily without any help from the outside. When fear strikes, we must double the dose of loving kindness we offer to ourselves. Kindness dissolves all the unloving thoughts that haunt our mind. Kindness dissolves all anger and pain. It helps us to see beyond all loss and gain. I just remembered a really beautiful and powerful saying by Lao Tzu which says, ” Kindness in words creates confidence, kindness in thinking creates profoundness and kindness in giving creates love.”
My dear, all you need to do is practice loving kindness just like you practice any other thing. Start with something small like a new prayer practice or making yourself a nice warm cup of ginger tea. While sitting in your office chamber, the place where unloving thoughts torment you the most, simply practice giving compliments to all those you meet and you can try this even when you meet your evil boss. You can bless her for her behaviour because its helping you grow, you can compliment her for her knowledge and you can wish her good luck for the day ahead. Dealing with mean people is scary but kindness is our greatest power against fear and anger. Making this a habit helps us to hear the voice of love loud and clear.”
