“Now this is what I call a well-thought decision,” said Vivan as he saw Arjun booking an appointment with a well known finance coach.
“Nisha advised me to do so,”said Arjun,”I believe she is right. We need help and guidance.”
“What about those letters we received?” asked Vivan pointing towards a few envelopes lying on the mini-desk,”there are three of them in total. The first one was adressed to both of us. I have already read it. Nisha and Diya are staying back here in Mussoorie and looking for a job. They have written that they must relieve themselves of any form of financial distress. But its good to hear that they arent giving up on their dreams.”
“One of those letters,” said Arjun,”is addressed to me. Nisha must have sent it. And the last one has no name on it. I wonder if its meant for both you and me.”
“There is only one way to find out,”said Vivan picking up a pale yellow envelope in his hands,”lets open it without any further discussion.”
“Its good you gave them our address,” said Vivan tearing the envelope,”O look! Its a greeting card.”
“For what,” asked Arjun feeling pleasantly surprised,”we dont have any festivities around the corner.”
“Its a good day card,” said Vivan holding a beautiful card with the picture of a lovely white dove on its front page,” lets see what it says.”
“Wishing you a good day. A day that may have troubles coupled with unhappy incidents and past sorrows but is still a good day because you choose to see it differently. May you choose a new perception today and love yourself more than ever.”
Vivan put the card aside and said,”well the truth is that the only thing we can modify is our perception. So why not work on creating a shift in our mindset?”
“I feel too tired,” said Arjun holding Nisha’s letter in his hands,”I just want some peace now.”
Arjun opened the letter and began to read it in his mind. He was surprised to see how much wisdom these few words contained and how much love and comfort they brought him.
“Dear Arjun, I am sorry for not sharing this information with you before you quit your job. Diya and I found a wonderful person who saw us without the lens of judgement and pre-loaded beliefs. We soon realised that the main source of our misery is our mindset. Your boss called you worthless. It was mean but it was never the problem. The problem was that a part of your mind chose to believe that its true. Though your heart kept trying to tell you that you are capable of doing a good job but this belief prevented you from being the best version of yourself. I know that you have resigned and wish to move on. All I want to tell you is that if after consulting your coach you realise that you need to take up a job to support your dreams and its something you cant avoid, then face your fear and remember that you are capable of earning for your dreams. I pray that you move ahead and get a chance to make your passion into your profession.
I also want to tell you honestly that its good for you to stay away from anyone related with the hotel. I cant risk writing anything more but I promise you that I will tell you the truth when its safe to do so. I still have those anklets you gifted me. And they remind me that you trust me enough to be patient.”
Arjun put down the letter and walked to his window. He saw an old man standing at the door of their house.
“Why are you dressed up as Santa sir?” Vivan’s aunt asked the man. She was quite amazed to see him that way.
“I have a parcel to deliver,”said the man smiling joyfully as usual.
“So is this your uniform or is this some kind of a promotion?”she asked.
“Did you call me?” said Vivan walking towards them.
“There is a parcel for you my child,”she said lovingly.
“Here it is,”said Santa holding up a box in his hands,”and remember my child that once you decide to form a loving bond with someone, you must be there for them no matter what.”
