“All we have is a text message saying that they had to leave suddenly and shall soon contact us,” said Vivan sitting down,”even their phones are turned off.”
“I have a strong feeling,” said Arjun,”that this place is seriously dangerous. We must leave as soon as possible.”
“But,” said Vivan,”what about our new job, our dreams and what about Diya and Nisha?”
“You know Vivan, when I gifted those anklets to Nisha she had a look on her face as if she wanted to say something but couldnt say it. There is something still hidden from us. I dont know why but we shouldnt be continuing further with this job. We havent signed any contracts as of now. Lets just quit this job and move out to a place where we are free of all danger.”
“Do you have any plans in mind?”asked Vivan,” what about resigning from our previous job? Are you still willing to do so?”
“I wasnt,” said Arjun,”willing to take that risk. But my heart said that I promised you so and must abide by it. Besides, Nisha too has taken that risk and I can clearly see that no matter how much pain she has to bear, her soul now feels free. I can sense how much relieved she feels to move out of a job which was slowly killing her.”
It was pretty early in the morning when Diya woke up from her sleep. The faint chirping sounds of the birds coupled with the crackling sounds of the fireplace provided a peaceful comforting ambiance to her troubled mind. She made her way downstairs and slowly walked into the kitchen. As she put the milk to boil, her mind took her down the memory lane to the day she had first entered the town.
“What a journey it has been,” she whispered,” no matter how tough the times are, these experiences have taught me that its safe to lean on love in each moment. And thats the reason I am able to survive these times with full hope in my heart.”
Putting the coffee beans into the blender, she thought,”I wish we could have told Vivan and Arjun the truth. It shall be quite a shock for them to find us gone. Its so unfair to them.”
She could see the sun rising through her kitchen window and wondered what surprises this sunrise would bring for her.
“Only a little money which can grant me the life of my dreams,”she said as she stirred her coffee,”I have everything else, friendship, love and and Santa. Only a little money is all I need.”
The winds were blowing gently as the storm had passed. She quietly opened the door and walked out into the beautiful morning.
