”I love the winds,” said Nisha opening the window of the car,” thank God the rains have stopped.”
”So,” said Ahan adjusting his seat belt,” I have something important to tell you.”
”What is it,” she asked leaning back.
”I was wondering if I should break up with my girlfriend.”
”What?” said Nisha raising her voice,” you are dating someone else and…………Are you insane? I am not going to put up with this. How can you be so……..”
”Smart?” he said with a smile on his face,” dont get me wrong Nisha. We havent comitted to each other yet, so how can I be foolish enough to let her go? What if our relationship doeant work out? Then I wont have either of you by my side.”
”This,” said Nisha,” isnt a job offer that you shall let go of one only when the other one gets confirmed. This is a sacred relationship, a bond of love. You are so insensitive.”
”Thats your way to look at it,” he said speeding up,” I am interested in serious relationships not some airy-fairy soulmate stuff.”
”Serious relationships,” said Nisha feeling her anger rise again,” require trust and loyalty.”
”If you promise me trust and loyalty,” he said,” I shall break up with her.”
Nisha was shocked by his words. His honesty had initially impressed her but his thinking scared her. She couldnt imagine why he would say that. His actions were that of betrayal and he demanded loyalty from her? She wasnt going to let this happen.
”We are going back,” she yelled angrily,” right now.”
”No,” he said speeding up again,” you dont get to make all the choices. You agreed for this drive, so lets just keep going.”
”I said that we are going back. Do you get this?”
”There is a beautiful spot just a few minutes away. I want to take you there. My mom used to take me there when she was alive.”
Nisha really wanted to get down from the car that very moment. But she didnt. Why?
”Is he manipulating me to obey him?” she thought,” why else would he mention his mom? This man is a toxic soul trying to trick people into doing what he says. I need to be careful.”
What is not okay is not okay. No wrong doings can be justified due to any emotional reasons. People justify their actions with heart melting words and other explanations. But when your heart says its wrong, then it surely is.
