Nisha sat there in the horribly cold weather gazing at the calm pool of water. Some tears rolled down her face.
“How I wish,” she said rubbing her hands together,” that peace is soon restored in my life.”
Arjun walked to the extreme end of the pool and stood there listening to the soft noises around him. He loved the ambiance of the place. It filled his heart with hope and renewal.
“The lady I met the other day,” he thought folding his arms across his chest,” argued with Mr. Ajay as politely as anyone could have done. Its charming of her to stand up for her dignity and that too with such grace and elegance. And for the first time in my life, I felt that someone felt the same pain as me. She didnt say a word about it but I felt that she too was suffering from the pain of harsh judgements.”
He stood there lost in his thoughts when he suddenly heard a soft voice coming from behind him.
“I am glad that I found you here,” the voice said.
He turned around and saw Nisha walking towards him.
“I wanted to thank you,” she said,” for the excellent advice you gave me that day.”
“Well,” he said,” we were talking about our experiences. I dont remember giving you any advice.”
Their conversation was disturbed by a loud scream which came from the other end of the pool.
“What was that?” asked Nisha worriedly.
“Lets go over to the other side of the pool,” said Arjun, “there is no point standing here.”
They both raced hurriedly towards the direction the scream came from.
”I hope no one is drowning,” said Nisha while running, “don’t they have any security here? Forget it, why do I even think that this place will ever be safe for anyone?”
”Whats this?” screamed Arjun as they finally reached the other side.
They could see a young woman standing near the pool screaming on top of her lungs. Arjun looked at her with an annoyed look on his face.
”Now why is she screaming?” he spoke, “everything seems to be fine.”
”Lets ask her,” said Nisha, “maybe there is some trouble.”
She walked up to the lady and said, “Are you all right?”
The woman looked at her for a moment and then replied, “I dont know why, but I felt something strange here. I was speaking to someone on my phone when suddenly I felt as if… How do I explain, as if there was some animal in the pool. But now it seems as if it was just a weird imagination.”
Nisha looked towards the pool and a chill ran down her spine. She too felt something sinister.
”So I guess you are fine now,” Arjun asked the lady.
”Yes, for sure. I shall go in now. Thank you for coming to my aid.”
”She must be stressed,” said Arjun as he walked towards Nisha.
”I dont know about her but all this is making me feel stressed,” she said.
”There is nothing to worry about. Its just that the atmosphere here is a little spooky. By the way, why are you outside on an evening like this?”
”I wanted to get away from that chaos inside. Its all so crowded. And what were you doing here?”
”I had planned on hosting a workshop here but had to cancel it. I was pretty upset about the fact. I came here to get a breath of fresh air.”
”Are you talking about the moonology workshop. I too had registered. Why did you cancel it?”
”The hotel management did not approve of it.”
”Thats frustrating. Never mind. I pray that you can conduct a workshop pretty soon.”
